Editorial Policy
FinanceCalco publishes personal finance guides and free calculators with one purpose: to help readers understand their money and make confident decisions. This policy explains how our content is created, who is accountable for it, and the standards every page must meet before — and after — it is published.
Our mission
We turn complicated money topics into clear, usable guidance. Every guide is built to answer the real questions a reader is asking, show the underlying math in plain language, and link to the primary sources so anyone can verify the numbers themselves.
Who writes our content
Guides are produced by our in-house editorial team — writers, editors, and fact-checkers working to one shared standard. Each guide carries the editorial-team byline, the date it was last updated, and links to the primary sources behind its numbers, and is reviewed by an editor before publication. As our team grows, individual contributors with named bylines and verifiable expertise will be credited on their own profiles.
How we research and write
- We start from authoritative, primary sources — government agencies, regulators, and official data (the IRS, CFPB, FDIC, SSA, the Federal Reserve, and similar).
- We show our work: formulas, worked examples, and clearly labelled assumptions.
- We write for beginners without dumbing things down, and we add expert depth where it helps.
- We pair guides with our calculators so readers can move from understanding to action.
Accuracy and corrections
Every factual claim, rate, and statutory limit is checked against its source before publishing — see our Fact-Checking Policy. When figures change (for example, an annual IRS limit), we update the article and its “last updated” date. If you spot an error, email editorial@financecalco.com and we will review and correct it promptly.
Editorial independence
Our guidance is not for sale. FinanceCalco is supported by advertising and may earn a commission from some partner links, but commercial relationships never determine our recommendations, the order of information, or our conclusions. Advertising is clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial content, and we do not allow advertisers to review or approve articles.
Not financial advice
Our content is educational and general in nature. It is not individualized financial, tax, legal, or investment advice, and our calculators produce estimates. For decisions about your specific situation, consult a qualified professional. See our Disclaimer.
Use of AI
We may use software tools to assist with research, drafting, and data checks, but every published article is directed, edited, and fact-checked by our human editorial team, who are accountable for its accuracy and quality. We do not publish unreviewed, auto-generated content.
